In 1989 Ross sold his practice to a Trust comprising eighteen trade unions and thereafter became the head solicitor at the Union Law Centre for five years.
He became heavily involved in employment law from the introduction of the Employment Contracts Act 1991 and has worked consistently in employment law since then.
He has represented individuals, unions, small to medium size employers and non government organizations in a wide variety of employment disputes and Court hearings. He continues to work with community organisations in South Auckland.
